Department of Translation Studies at an International Colloquium and EMT Meeting in Germany

“The language of Europe is translation.”

It was in this spirit that a prestigious international meeting of members of the European Masters’ in Translation of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation took place on 20-21 October 2021 at the University of Leipzig.

The meeting, held in a hybrid form, was connected with a colloquium and attended by representatives of top European study programmes aimed at training future translators. Doc. Emília Perez and Dr. Soňa Hodáková from the Department of Translation Studies, Faculty of Arts, CPU in Nitra were among the invited participants who had the opportunity to visit Leipzig in person.

Doc. Perez presented the activities of the EMT working group on audiovisual translation as well as the EMT network visions and plans in the field of inclusion and accessibility. Dr. Hodáková gave a lecture on the topic of mental health and well-being of university students and teachers during remote training.
The host university concluded a fruitful exchange of experiences and discussions between representatives of European universities and the private sector by presenting its activities in the field of translation and multilingualism.

This prestigious event provided the opportunity to present the activities of the Department of Translation Studies, which resonate in a European context and, last but not least, the opportunity to draw inspiration and motivation into other useful projects and promising international partnerships.
